meet your guide food tour Nora

I am coming from the Hungarian paprika and salami region of Szeged, where I grew up in a cooking obsessed family, and learned how to cook at an early age. Food was (and still is) an important topic among us. My passion for food and hotels led me to hold a degree now in hotel and restaurant management. I am also a certified cook and a tour guide. I have spent some time living in the USA and Argentina, where I loved to introduce the Hungarian cuisine to my foreign friends.

Over the past 15 years I have immersed myself in several topics about Budapest: art, architecture, design, gastronomy, and really enjoy showing people the constantly changing faces of the city.

Besides guiding, I manage a small apartment for short term rentals in Budapest. My spare time is full of cooking for family and friends, shopping markets, trying the culinary delights of Budapest and other countries I am visiting, and learning about food!

Being a passionate traveller and a culinary enthusiast I would be happy to share my love for food and discoveries with you.

GyuriYour personal sommelier

Graduating from the faculty of history and georgrapy in the University of Pécs, Gyuri has always had great interest in Orodán Györgytraveling and the treasures of nature. His attraction is the base of his wide knowledge and led him towards this amazing drink, wine.

Gyuri’s passion for wine started about 9 years ago, when merging his resources with a friend, they started to import Italian wines to Hungary. Keen on learning more about wines and wine growing he started to take sommelier courses, first in Hungary, and later in the United Kingdom. Receiving great opportunities abroad, Gyuri spent 3 years in 4-5 star hotels, and 1-3 michellin star restaurants in the UK, and the experience immensely increased his knowledge . Luckily, he is back to Hungary, so his talent can shine among us.

Currently he is an instructor at WSET (Wine & Spirit Education Trust), and works as a restaurant manager and sommelier. He will be happy to introduce you to the world of Hungarian wines and don’t be afraid to ask him!
